A huge thank you to Lane and the team at UCS Spirit, in Minden, for the amazing tour! Our students got to see firsthand how pole vault poles are made and tested — such a great experience for our track team.

The Wells High School Leopards battled hard through the playoff tournament this past weekend.
⚾ On Friday, May 8, 2026, Wells defeated Pyramid Lake High School by a score of 18-3.
⚾ Later Friday, Wells fell to Smith Valley High School in a close 12-13 battle.
⚾ On Saturday, May 9, 2026, Wells finished tournament play with a hard-fought 8-10 loss against Mineral County High School.

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Wells can now relate to. They fell just short of the Mineral County Serpents by a score of 10-8 on Saturday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Leopards have suffered since May 10, 2025.
Charley Peterson was huge no matter where he played even without the win. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. That's the fewest hits he has allowed since back in March. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with three RBI and one double.
In other batting news, Teagan Calton was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one triple, two RBI, and one run. Gage Uhlig was another key player, earning two runs and three stolen bases.
This is the second loss in a row for Wells and nudges their season record down to 21-10. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 18-2 Smith Valley (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 81.4% over those games). As for Mineral County, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 16-6.
