Last week, Mr. Roberson had the incredible opportunity to take five of our outstanding students to Las Vegas for the 2025 ACDA Nevada All-State Conference High School All-State Choir. Throughout the event, the students engaged in intensive rehearsals. They also had the privilege of performing in a concert, showcasing their hard work.

We're excited to share some great news! Three of our amazing elementary students entered their stories in the Elko County Writers' Festival and placed! They were celebrated at the awards ceremony in Elko, where they received a special book featuring their stories. What a wonderful achievement! Congratulations to Evalyn B, Dorothy H and Ally K!

Softball Preview: Wells Leopards vs. Eureka Vandals
By Team Reports

Apr 27, 2025, 1:23 am
Wells is 9-1 against Eureka since April of 2018 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Wednesday. The Leopards will venture away from home to take on the Vandals at 4:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Wells has ten straight wins, Eureka has six straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
On Saturday, Wells made easy work of Pyramid Lake and carried off a 9-1 victory. The result was nothing new for the Leopards, who have now won nine games by eight runs or more so far this season.
Aryanna Rodriguez spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on one hit.
On the hitting side, Mayte Casas was excellent, going 1-for-4 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Evelyn Walz, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one stolen base and two RBI.
Meanwhile, Eureka came up short against Mineral County on Saturday, falling 27-11. Even if the Vandals couldn't come away with the win, the high-scoring effort was a great turnaround for their hitters, which had struggled int the games prior.
Emma Auch made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and got on base in all four of her plate appearances with nine stolen bases and two runs. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played. Mya Tognotti was another key player, earning two runs and two stolen bases.
Wells pushed their record up to 12-6 with the victory, which was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.9 runs on average over those games. As for Eureka, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-7.
Wednesday's matchup might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Wells has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .557. However, it's not like Eureka struggles in that department as they've averaged .554. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Wells took their victory against Eureka in their previous meeting back in May of 2022 by a conclusive 20-5 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Leopards since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.

Baseball Recap: Wells Beats Pyramid Lake for Their 14th Straight Victory
Team Reports maxpreps.com
Wells came tearing into Saturday's contest with 13 straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 11.1 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They were the clear victors by a 17-2 margin over the Pyramid Lake Lakers. Considering the Leopards have won 19 matchups by more than five runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.
Luis Garcia and Teagan Calton were major factors no matter where they played. Throwing, Garcia pitched three innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits. Meanwhile, Calton tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits in ten consecutive appearances. At the plate, Garcia went a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBI and one run, while Calton went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. That's the most stolen bases Calton has posted over his last nine games.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Cesar Beruman, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and two doubles. The team also got some help courtesy of Gage Uhlig, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI.
Wells always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .710. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .529 or higher in six consecutive contests.
Wells pushed their record up to 21-3 with the win, which was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for Pyramid Lake, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-9.
Coming up, Wells will take on Non Varsity Tournament Opponent at 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Non Varsity Tournament Opponent has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 8.57 runs per game on average), something Wells will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Pyramid Lake, they will face off against Coleville at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.

Wells has gone a perfect 10-0 against Carlin recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Leopards will venture away from home to face off against the Railroaders at 2:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Wells has ten straight wins, Carlin has 34 straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Wells came out on top against Coleville on Saturday thanks in part to the team's impressive 14-run first inning. The Leopards were the clear victors by a 15-0 margin over the Wolves. The Leopards might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 15 matchups by six runs or more this season.
