Football Recap: Wells Leopards vs. Carlin Railroaders
By Team Reports
Aug 31, 2025, 10:44 am
Wells was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss dating back to last season. They fell 26-13 to the Carlin Railroaders. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Leopards of the 50-28 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in September of 2024.
Although Wells took the loss, they still got scores from Marcus Uhart and Justice Nelson.
Even if they lost, Wells' defense still kept up the pressure with three sacks. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Uhart, Henry Morris, and Joe Dahl, who each picked up one sack apiece.
Dylan Ramirez was a one-man wrecking crew for Carlin, as he rushed for 221 yards and two TDs while picking up 10.0 yards per carry. Ramirez's rushing production has been exceptional recently as he marked his third straight game with at least 162 rushing yards, dating back to last season. Gage Lewis was another key player, gaining 184 total yards and a touchdown.
Wells' loss dropped their record down to 0-2.
Carlin 26
Wells 13
We've got plenty of interleague action coming up soon. Wells is set to take on their familiar foe, Virginia City, at 2:30 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Carlin will square off against rival McDermitt at 7:00 p.m. on September 5.

Please only drop off wood items for the bonfire.

Welcome Back to School!
A new year is a fresh start, and taking care of your health is the best way to make it a successful one. Here are some tips to help you thrive academically, socially, and physically.
1. Prioritize Your Sleep
Sleep is not a luxury—it's essential for your brain and body to function at their best.
Create a Consistent Sleep Schedule: Go to bed and wake up at the same time every day, even on weekends. This helps regulate your body's internal clock.
Aim for 8-10 Hours: Teens need 8 to 10 hours of sleep per night to support growth, focus, and emotional well-being.
Establish a Relaxing Bedtime Routine: Power down electronics at least one hour before bed. Read a book, listen to calm music, or do some light stretching to signal to your body that it's time to rest.
2. Fuel Your Body & Mind
What you eat directly impacts your energy levels, mood, and concentration.
Don't Skip Breakfast: Eating a balanced breakfast (like oatmeal with fruit or eggs on toast) gives you the energy you need to start your day strong and improves your focus in class.
Stay Hydrated: Carry a reusable water bottle and drink water throughout the day. Dehydration can cause fatigue and difficulty concentrating.
Pack Smart Snacks: Instead of sugary, processed snacks, pack healthy options like apples, bananas, nuts, or yogurt to keep your energy steady.
Make Healthy Lunch Choices: If you buy lunch, opt for options with lean proteins, vegetables, and whole grains. If you pack, try a sandwich on whole-wheat bread or a salad with grilled chicken.
3. Stay Active
Regular physical activity is a powerful tool for reducing stress, improving mood, and boosting brain power.
Find Activities You Enjoy: Join a sports team, try a new fitness class, or simply go for a walk or bike ride with friends.
Move Your Body Daily: Aim for at least 60 minutes of moderate-to-vigorous physical activity most days of the week. This doesn't have to be a formal workout—it can be anything from shooting hoops to walking the dog.
4. Master Hygiene
Good hygiene is key to staying healthy and feeling confident.
Wash Your Hands: Make it a habit to wash your hands with soap and water after using the restroom, before eating, and after coughing or sneezing.
Stay Germ-Free: Keep hand sanitizer in your backpack for when soap and water aren't available.
Practice Good Oral Hygiene: Brush your teeth twice a day for two minutes and floss once a day. This prevents cavities and keeps your breath fresh.
5. Manage Stress & Mental Health
School can be stressful, but learning to manage it is crucial.
Talk to Someone: Don't be afraid to talk to a trusted adult, such as a parent, teacher, counselor, or school nurse, if you're feeling overwhelmed.
Take Breaks: Schedule short breaks during homework sessions to stretch, listen to music, or just breathe.
Practice Mindfulness: Try simple breathing exercises or meditation apps to help you stay present and calm during stressful moments.
Know Your Limits: It's okay to say no to social events or extracurriculars if you're over-scheduled. Balance is key.
Remember: A healthy mind and body are your best assets for a successful school year!
