Wells can now show off seven landslide victories after their most recent matchup on Friday. They put the hurt on the Pyramid Lake Lakers with a sharp 11-1 victory. Winning may never get old, but Wells sure is getting used to it with their seventh in a row.
Cesar Berumen made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and not a single walk). Berumen has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive pitching appearances. Berumen was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-2 with a home run, three runs, and three RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Luis Garcia, who went 2-for-4 with a home run, two stolen bases, and two runs. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last five times he's played. Sam Peterson was another key contributor, scoring two runs and stealing four bases while going 1-for-2.
Wells pushed their record up to 8-2 with that win, which was their sixth straight on the road. Those victories were due in large part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 16.2 runs per game. As for Pyramid Lake, they haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-5.
On Friday, March 22nd, the Lady Leopards softball team faced off against the Pyramid Lake Lady Lakers in a doubleheader. The Lady Leopards showed their skill and determination, winning both games with impressive scores of 17-6 and 9-7. The players' hard work and teamwork paid off, resulting in a well-deserved victory. Congratulations to the Lady Leopards on a great performance!
