Jesse Speir
FBLA Eastern Region Vice President
Jesse Speir is a senior at Wells High School, a small school in Eastern Nevada, and is serving as the 2024-25 Eastern Region Vice President. Jesse has been an active member of FBLA since his freshman year of high school and has faithfully served his chapter as secretary. He and his team have achieved first place for three consecutive years in parliamentary procedure, have placed fourth in Computer Game and Simulation Programming, and have attended NLC in Atlanta, Georgia. His experiences in FBLA have inspired him to become much more outgoing and seek out leadership opportunities. Besides FBLA, Jesse enjoys participating in extracurricular activities such as football, golf, and art club, as well as serving on the presidency as treasurer. He plans to attend Utah State University to study political science. He hopes to use this degree to go to law school and become an estate planning lawyer. Jesse looks forward to reaching out to the Eastern Region and watching it develop throughout the year.

Track & Field Day 2024
Track and Field Day was a huge success despite the wind and cold weather! The elementary students took part in a wide variety of events, including the softball throw, sprints, hurdles, and long jump. A big shoutout to Mr. Baldwin and Mr. Thomas for organizing the day, as well as to the Hope Squad and the high school track team for running the activities and guiding the students.

STARS Employee Recognition Program
Amy Hunsaker was selected as one of the Elko County School District’s May Staff and Teachers Achieving Results with Students (STARS) award recipients.
Susan Neal-STARS Committee Chair and Clayton Anderson-Superintendent of Schools came to present the award to Ms. H.
Ms. H was nominated by a person who wishes to remain anonymous. The letter they wrote nominating her is attached.
STARS (Staff and Teachers Achieving Results with Students) was designed to recognize individuals who demonstrate exceptional performance and commitment to the education of all students served by the district’s schools. While it is impossible to recognize every well-deserving employee, the intent of this program is to identify, select, and celebrate staff members who epitomize the image of a high-quality Elko County School District employee.
Ms. H is truly an outstanding choice for this recognition. Her unwavering dedication to WHS sets her apart and makes her truly deserving of this honor.

"Breakfast with the Notables"
Over the past few weeks, our 4th, 5th, and 6th-grade students have dedicated themselves to in-depth research on a significant historical figure. This involved creating visually engaging boards about their chosen person and embodying the historical figure through costumes.
Parents, guardians, friends, and staff were invited to the school to have breakfast with the "Notables" and learn about their lives and accomplishments.
Our Lady Leopards Track & Field team competed in the 2024 NIAA State Track and Field Championships on May 17-18.
