WELLS — The Wells football team was no match for the No. 1 program in the 1A North.

On Oct. 23, the Leopards were routed at home by Mineral County by a final score of 44-6.

Offensively, Wells was limited to 139 yards of total offense (103 rushing, 36 passing).

Mineral County’s stats were incomplete and did not match for passing and receiving totals.

For the Leopards, senior quarterback Joe Dahl completed 2-for-2 passes for 36 yards and ran 19 times for 56 yards.

Senior running back Gage Uhlig carried eight times for 26 yards with a touchdown and caught a 29-yard pass.

Junior Johnny Glascock ran for 18 yards on 10 totes and added a seven-yard reception.

Sophomore Justice Nelson rushed five times for seven yards.

Altogether, Wells gained 103 yards on 43 attempts — averaging 2.4 yards per carry — and lost two fumbles.

Defensively, Glascock and Uhlig paced the Leopards with 12 tackles apiece.

Nelson notched six tackles — one for a loss — and recovered a fumble.

Junior Marcus Uhart recorded five stops — including a sack — forced and recovered a fumble.

Junior Henry Morris mounted four tackles — one for a loss — and jumped on a loose ball.

Sophomore Cade Sampson tallied three tackles — one for a loss — and the Leopards’ defense was capped with a stop apiece for senior Devante Miller and sophomore Kade Kelly.

In total, Wells forced three takeaways on fumble recoveries.
