WEST WENDOVER — On Monday, a pair of Elko County’s girls golfers booked their positions in the 2A state tournament.

In the 2A East regional tournament, Wells’ Grace Otto was crowned the regional champion with a score of 111 — possessing a one-stroke victory over White Pine’s Payton Walker (112).

For the Lady Wolverines, Belsi Mendoza also earned an individual berth to state with a third-place 114.

White Pine’s Oaklee Campeau took fourth with a round of 116.

Battle Mountain’s Noel Hill clinched the third and final individual berth to state with a fifth-place 119.

White Pine’s Isabelle Callendar ranked sixth with a 122, and the Lady Bobcats rounded out the top seven with a tie on matching 130s from both Guinevere Callendar and Rilee Taylor.

As a team, White Pine dominated the field with a total score of 480 — winning by 42 strokes — and Wells finished second with a collective tally of 522.

The Lady Longhorns ranked third with a team score of 528.

White Pine will be the lone team at the state tourney — needing to score within 200-over par (488) — and the individual qualifiers needed to score within 50-over par (122).

Locally, West Wendover’s Maggie Rodriguez finished ninth with a 130.

For the Lady Leopards, Arabella Martinez took 12th with a 135, and Izzy Elton and Melanie Beardall tied for 13th with matching cards of 138.

West Wendover’s Morgan Endo rounded out the roster with a 17th-place 144.

The Division 2A Nevada State Girls Golf Championships will take place at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 14, and 11:21 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 15, at Toiyabe Golf Club, in New Washoe City.
