CARLIN — On Thursday, the Wells volleyball team moved close to .500 league play.

On the road, the Lady Leopards beat Carlin for the second time — sweeping the season series — with a five-set victory and improved to 3-4 in the Division 1A North.

With the loss, the Lady Railroaders remained winless on the season at 0-11 and 0-7 in league.

The game was a better contest than the first meeting on Aug. 28, in Wells, when the Lady Leopards rolled to a straight-set sweep.

In Thursday’s battle, no team won consecutive frames.

Wells opened the match with a 25-18 victory, but Carlin came back with a narrow 25-23 edge in the second game.

The Lady Leopards rebounded with a 25-15 win in the third set, but the Lady Roaders staved off elimination with a 25-19 victory in the fourth frame.

In the race to 15, Wells hung on for a 15-13 victory and swept the season series.

  • Stats were not provided for either team.

On Saturday, the Lady Leopards were swept with ease at home against White Pine in a non-league affair by tallies of 25-15, 25-9 and 25-2.
