HAZELTON, Idaho — At the Valley Invite, two Elko County cross-country programs took part in the event.
The best finishes were provided by Wells, which took 10th in the boys and girls varsity runs and fourth in the JV girls division.
Varsity Boys
In the varsity boys race, Wells junior Isaac Gale capped the top 10 with a time of 18:24.6.
Senior teammate Cameron Livingstone followed closely in 18:28 for 11th place, and junior Mason Noorda rounded off the Leopards’ team with a time of 19:12.5 for 15th.
Varsity Girls
The Lady Leopards fielded just one athlete in the varsity race, but sophomore Millie Cromley made the most of the opportunity and ran 10th in 22:18.5.
JV Girls
In the JV girls division, Wells junior April Bochman led the Elko County runners with a fourth-place time of 25:33.9 for the best local finish of any race.
Freshman Maggie Neff and junior Marli Dahl ran crossed consecutively in 11th and 12th with time of 27:37 and 27:59.8; respectively.
The Lady Leopards — freshmen Reese Livingstone and Natalie Dahl — finished in order once again at 16th and 17th with respective times of 28:53.3 and 28:58.4.
Wells’ roster was rounded off with a 25th-place 31:18.7 for freshman Brynli Dahl.
Jackpot’s team was led with a time of 31:22.8 by junior Karina Lucero.
The Lady Jaguars’ runners were capped with a consecutive finish in 29th and 30th from seniors Eunice Dominguez and Jocelyn Cervantes in 32:16.1 and 32:16.6; respectively.
JV Boys
Wells junior Marcos Cobian paced the Elko County pack in the JV boys race with a time of 21:48 for 14th place.
Sophomore teammate Jayden Kiser crossed 20th in 22:21.2.
For the Jaguars, senior Angel Martinez and Kevin Jack went back-to-back in 31st and 32nd with times of 24:29.1 and 24:48; respectively.
Middle School Boys
Wells eighth-grader Paul Livingstone — the lone Elko County athlete in the middle school boys division — posted a time of 10:53 for 17th place in 2500-meter race.
