WELLS — For its homecoming contest, the Wells football team hosted Coleville in a non-conference matchup.
The Leopards improved to 2-4 on the season with a commanding 56-16 victory over the Wolverines — leading 42-8 by halftime — and enforced the running clock in the third quarter.
During the break, football player Cesar Berumen was named the homecoming king — Callie Brodsho crowned the homecoming queen.
In the ballgame, Wells racked up 380 yards of total offense — running for 235 yards and throwing for 145.
Sophomore quarterback Olen Morrison completed 4-of-8 passes for 139 yards with two touchdowns — running once for 15 yards — and freshman Landon Hal finished 2-of-5 for six yards and rushed for 48 yards and two scores on five attempts.
Junior Joe Dahl’s lone run went for a 71-yard TD, and he caught one pass for three yards, Berumen posted two receptions for 69 yards with a touchdown and junior Cade Cromley’s only catch with a 63-yard touchdown.
On the ground, sophomore Luis Martinez carried four times for 42 yards and scored two touchdowns.
Senior Jake Glascock rushed for 25 yards on five attempts.
Junior Gage Uhlig scored once and finished with 21 rushing yards on just two totes — adding a seven-yard catch — and freshman Justice Nelson ran twice for 16 yards.
Senior Eathan Elton carried once for three yards, and senior Jesse Speir ran once for two yards.
Sophomore Johnny Glascock pulled down one pass for three yards.
On defense, Martinez led the Leopards with nine tackles.
Sophomore Henry Morris recorded eight stops, Hall added seven and freshman Cade Sampson followed with six.
Speir finished with five stuffs, freshman Raleigh Groves closed with four and freshman Michael Aguilar made three.
Junior Max Dahl, Johnny Glascock, Berumen and Elton tallied two stops apiece.
Freshman Russell Peavey, Jake Glascock, Joe Dahl, Uhlig, Cromley, Morrison and Nelson rounded out the defense with one tackle each.
Joe Dahl forced a fumble and recovered two, Cromley and Nelson caused one fumble apiece and Uhlig notched Wells’ only sack.
Versus Owyhee
The Leopards were scheduled to host Owyhee on Friday, Oct. 11, in Wells.
