WELLS — After playing Wendover (Utah) close in a 13-point road loss in the first meeting, the second matchup was no contest for the Wells girls basketball team.
On Dec. 18, the Lady Leopards went into the Christmas break on a 44-31 loss to the Lady Wildcats.
But, Wendover rolled to a 32-point, 52-20 victory on Tuesday, in Wells.
The outcome was essentially sealed in the first quarter, Wendover jumping to a 15-4 lead.
In the second period, the Lady Leopards played a closer frame but fell behind farther with a 14-11 tally — trailing by 14 at halftime with the score at 29-15.
After the break, the Lady Wildcats really went to work — tearing off a 14-1 advantage in the third quarter — pushing the margin to 27 at 43-16.
Down the stretch, Wendover closed the show on a 9-6 advantage in the fourth period — pulling away for a 32-point, 52-20 victory — outscoring Wells 23-5 in the second half.
