WENDOVER, Utah — With a quick trip across the state line, the Wells girls basketball team fell for the fourth-consecutive time.

On Monday, the Lady Leopards dropped a 44-31 road contest to Wendover (Utah) by a final score of 44-31.

The outcome essentially boiled down to a slow start and a bad first quarter, Wells outscored by Wendover by a total of 14-3.

The Lady Leopard edged the Lady Wildcats 7-6 in the second period but trailed by 10 at the break with the score at 20-10.

In the third, Wendover surged farther ahead with a 19-13 run — opening a 39-23 advantage as the game went to the fourth.

Wells won the fourth quarter 8-5 but it was too little, too late in the 13-point loss by a final tally of 44-31.
