FARMINGTON, Utah — As a freshman, Wells’ Tegan Remington posted a nice performance in the F.I.G.H.T. — the Farmington Invitational Girls High Tournament — on Friday and Saturday, in Farmington, Utah.

Fight she did, competing in the 130-pound division, Remington placed fifth with a record of 5-2 — all of her wins coming by fall.

Remington opened the tournament with three-straight pins over Bear River’s Addie Rich (1:25), Logan’s Heidi Pratt (1:17) and Roy’s Abbie Colvin (1:14).

She lost her next-two matches by fall against Uintah’s Sydnie Dick at the 5:21 mark of the semifinal round and Fremont’s Kaitlyn Worthley in 2:42 of the consolation semi.

But, Remington ended the tournament on a high note — pinning Herriman’s Kortnie Denos in just 41 seconds during the fifth and sixth-place match.

The Gauntlet

On Friday and Saturday, competing in The Gauntlet, at Olympus High School, in Holladay, Utah, sophomore Gage Uhlig went 7-2 six wins by fall in the 144-150 division.

After opening with a six-second loss by fall to Hillcrest’s Dallas DeLong, Uhlig rattled off five-consecutive victories — four by fall and another by forfeit.

He pinned Olympus’ Logan Robbins in 1:56, advanced with a forfeit by Mountain Crest’s Jonah Randall and beat Hunter’s William Gailey by fall at the 1:03 mark.

Uhlig then pinned Taylorsville’s Trajan Hallett in only 37 seconds and followed with a 1:34 pin of Mountain Crest’s Sawyer Anderson.

In Round 7, Uhlig lost for the second time — losing by fall at the end of the first period against Hillcrest’s Mateo Paul.

But, Uhlig closed the tournament with consecutive pins of Mountain Crest’s Sam Wilberg (1:17) and Green Canyon’s Ryker Nelson (58 seconds).
