WELLS — Despite a three-match losing streak — one in a non-league contest — the Wells volleyball team jumped to third in the 1A East standings with a four-match winning streak.

Versus Jackpot: After dropping a five-set road loss on Sept. 1, in Jackpot, the Lady Leopards evened the season series with a three-set home sweep of the Lady Jaguars on Oct. 5, in Wells.

Versus Lund: On Oct. 6, the Lady Leopards notched their second win in a row with another straight-set victory over Lund — claiming the season series after a five-set road win over the Lady Mustangs on Oct. 23 — winning by scores of 25-20, 25-19 and 25-18.

Versus Owyhee: On Aug. 31, Wells opened league play with a five-set road loss to Owyhee.

But, the Lady Leopards evened the season series for their third-straight victory with a 3-1 win over the Lady Braves on Oct. 13, in Wells.

Versus Carlin: Following a 3-1 win over Carlin on Sept. 28, Wells swept the season series with the Lady Railroaders with another four-set victory on Oct. 14.

After being dominated in the first set by a wide margin with the score at 25-12, the Lady Leopards answered the challenge with three consecutive wins of 25-21, 25-21 and 25-20 — closing its four-match winning streak against league opponents.

Versus McDermitt: On the road, Wells was swept for the second time by the Lady Bulldogs on Oct. 19, at McDermitt, losing by tallies of 25-9, 25-20 and 25-9.

Versus Eureka: Against the Lady Vandals, the Lady Leopards — who lost in four sets on Sept. 21, in Eureka — were swept in straight frames at home on Oct. 20 by scores of 25-16, 25-8 and 25-19.

Versus White Pine: On Tuesday, in a non-conference contest, Wells’ losing streak hit three with a straight-set road loss against White Pine, in Ely, falling by wide margins with the scores at 25-5, 24-13 and 25-8.

At Elko JV: The Lady Leopards (7-19 overall, 6-7 in league) were scheduled to finish the regular season with a non-league contest against the Elko JV at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 26, at Centennial Gymnasium.
