About Dr. Ken Higbee

Dr. Kenneth V. Higbee received his bachelor’s degree from Eastern Oregon University, his master’s degree from Grand Canyon University and his doctorate from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. He has spent the past 26 years educating youth in Nevada. Prior to moving to Wells, Dr. Higbee began his teaching career at Moapa Valley High School teaching English and coaching basketball and baseball. He then moved to Alamo where he taught English, physical education, and health for 12 years. He served as an assistant administrator for a year at Pahranagat Valley Middle and Elementary School and then became the schools’ principal for four years. He then moved to C.O. Bastian High School where he became the principal for seven years. Through his 26 years in education, he has served as a head football coach (third winningest football coach in Nevada history) and has the distinction for his football teams winning 104 straight games which is the third longest winning streak in high school football history. He has also served as an assistant coach in girls and boys basketball, baseball, and softball. He moved to Wells to teach English and after three months and was transferred to the position of dean of students and athletics director until his appointment in May of 2021 as the principal of Wells Combined Schools. Dr. Higbee has always had strong ties to the Wells community as his family ranch afforded him opportunities to spend summers in Wells running cattle on their grazing allotment. He also coached against Wells as a football coach and learned to really appreciate the kids who represented Wells High School.
